Low testosterone and moobs can reduce your confidence. Don't worry, here are 5 Tips to banish Man-Boobs naturally!

It is predicted that 30% of men will suffer from gynecomastia in the course of their lifetime (also known as “Moobs” or “Man Boobs”). However, the distressing condition is misunderstood.

Man boobs are caused when a large amount of fat accumulates in the chest, giving the impression that the male has female breasts. This can be caused by a hormonal imbalance between testosterone and oestrogen. Gynecomastia is associated with high levels of oestrogen in men which is also associated with low testosterone as oestrogen has become dominant.

Although man boobs are not dangerous to health, they can cause emotional and psychological problems, such as anxiety, self-consciousness, and low self-confidence.

This expert advice can help you take control and learn how to remove man boobs for good if you are one of the millions of men feeling insecure and disappointed by this condition.

1. Reduce weight

Fat is the key driver in man boobs and low testosterone levels. It’s time to reduce your calorie intake and get moving. Simple carbs (sugars!)  are the main culprit here as insulin resistance is often the root cause of excess fat. All carbs are broken down into simple sugars called glucose and the hormone insulin drives it into your body where it’s optimised as energy. When it’s consumed in excess, it's stored as fat. Reducing your simple carb intake is always beneficial for health. Switch to complex carbs which are broken down slowly, and for fat burn, limit carb intake to earlier in the day so the body has optimal time to use them.

2. Ditch the booze to avoid low testosterone

Alcohol affects the liver’s ability to get rid of excess oestrogen. It is one of the leading causes of low testosterone and libidos.

If beer is your booze of choice, you should know that phytoestrogens (compounds that mimic true oestrogen in the body) are present in the hops used to make beer.

You will also benefit from a reduction in the excess calories from booze will be driving your waistline. Alcohol also impacts your sleep pattern which is when testosterone is replenished, and you need optimal levels as oestrogen robs testosterone leading to even more unpleasant symptoms.

There’s a few simple food hacks that will also help:

3. Be Mindful of Chemicals and Toxins

These are the driving forces behind the low testosterone levels, continual decline in male sperm health and rapidly deteriorating testosterone levels.  They are wreaking havoc with hormone levels on an unprecedented basis.

Phthalates are endocrine disrupting chemicals that get into the body and mimic our natural hormones by binding or blocking hormone receptors. The most common, BPA, was actually developed as an oestrogen therapy, before scientists found it could help with packaged goods as well.

Plastic Bottles

If there was ever a time to ditch the plastic its now. Its a win win. Kinder to the environment and giving your male hormones the best chance to be optimal.  Swap plastic for glass where possible.

Ready Meals

Many men with moobs and low testosterone levels are on a ready-meal diet. When you heat the plastic, it speeds up delivery of the phthalates into your food which you then ingest. To avoid this happening, remove the food and switch all plastic to glass and heat. Or better still ditch the ready meals which aren’t likely to be helping with your weight and fat levels.

Canned Tins

Try to avoid those that contain acidic foods such as tomatoes and tomato products. The acid causes more of the chemical to be removed from the can lining.

Parabens are another hormone disruptor category driving the incidence of moobs. They are added to personal care products and cosmetics to prevent the growth of microbes in these products. They also have an ability to mimic oestrogen and promote breast tissue growth. So, with low testosterone level, picking the right product is also necessary.

Before you start lathering up with your girlfriend’s shampoo, check its label. The chances are if it has any added fragrance or perfume (which is nearly everything) then it has a paraben. Try to use organic and natural products to avoid this. Your health and hormones will thank you for it long term.

4. Ensure you rectify nutrient deficiencies

As we know moobs are hormone related.

Your hormones require optimal levels of key nutrients to be able to flourish. The endocrine system is responsible for hormonal functions in the body and produces 30 distinct hormones, each of which has a very specific job to do. When it's not working properly, hormones are unbalanced, and you become more susceptible to disease and your ability to fight off infection is weakened.

Men need to make sure they keep their nutrient levels optimal which is increasingly hard with the modern diet and lifestyle. Ensure you take a good multivitamin or testosterone booster supplement that ensures you meet your daily needs to improve low testosterone situation and enable hormonal balance and wellbeing.

5. Have a health MOT for low testosterone

It’s never a bad idea to book a check-up with your doctor particularly if your moobs are painful. Prevention is always better than a cure.
