Testosterone and Menopause

Healthy testosterone levels during menopause helps reduce symptoms and supports a healthy libido during this life-stage.

What ALL women should know about female testosterone health.

It’s a MYTH that testosterone is a male hormone.

Whilst men do have higher circulating levels of testosterone (T) than women - quantitatively, testosterone is the most abundant active sex steroid in women throughout the female lifespan.

Women have 10 X higher units of testosterone (T) than oestradiol (E2).

Levels tail off from your 30’s and can lead to imbalance and symptoms of Low-T.

In women it plays an important role in the following:

• Bone health: Promoting bone growth & density, supporting osteoporosis prevention

• Sexual desire / libido: Women with Low-T levels can lose their sex drive

• Vaginal health: Testosterone helps maintain, grow, and repair reproductive tissues – low levels lead to vaginal dryness

• Fertility: Not one for menopause but it plays a vital role in ovulation.

DNA are the first brand to acknowledge testosterone’s role in menopause health by developing Menoplay.

Dialling up this crucial hormone, can often be the key to bringing sexy back by helping women regain confidence and comfort during sex.

Studies have also shown that women that go into menopause with healthy levels of testosterone experience far less symptoms and severity than women with low testosterone levels.

Testosterone and the female cycle.

Each Menoplay pouch is 28 days supply. Supporting what’s considered the “normal” female cycle.

Of course, we now know that during peri menopause our cycles are anything but “normal” and regular to one person can be totally irregular to someone else.

Studies show only 20% of women have a 28-day cycle.

Role of Testosterone

Testosterone’s role differs to those of progesterone and oestrogen in that its main function is to regulate a woman’s sex drive.

The combination of testosterone and oestrogen can increase a woman’s libido considerably during ovulation and even menstruation.

If your libido has a monthly pattern, it’s likely to be connected to the fluctuations of these hormones.

Week 1 Day 1 (first day of period) to Day 7: - Oestrogen rises.

Week 2 Day 8 to ovulation - Oestrogen and testosterone rise till they peak.

Week 3 Begins the day after ovulation - Progesterone rises; oestrogen and testosterone drop the first half this week, then oestrogen rises again.

Week 4 Final 6 days of your cycle: Oestrogen and progesterone plunge.
